Mrs. Blackwell received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University in 1990. She graduated Cum Laude (with honors) with a Bachelors of Science degree in Communications. She attended the Stetson University College of Law where she also graduated Cum Laude in 1994.
While at Stetson, Mrs. Blackwell was a Teaching Fellow and did an internship with the State Attorney’s Office for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit. She also clerked at one of St. Petersburg’s oldest law firms, Harris, Barrett, Mann & Dew, P.A. Upon graduation, Mrs. Blackwell began working for Harris Barrett where she focused on civil litigation and gained invaluable work and trial experience.
When her children were born, Mrs. Blackwell became a stay at home mother. She was actively involved in the community and her daughters’ school, The Canterbury School of Florida.
When Mrs. Blackwell returned to the practice of law, she limited her practice exclusively to family law. Her practice exposed her to all issues of family law, including child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, modification, domestic violence injunctions and prenuptial agreements.
Mrs. Blackwell started her own law firm, Blackwell & Blackwell, P.A., in 2006 with her husband. She practices exclusively in the area of marital and family law. She is a member of the Florida Bar and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. She has done extensive continuing legal education through all of these associations focusing on current family law issues.
Claudia and her husband, Ken, live in St. Petersburg with their three daughters and she is a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and a Girl Scout Leader.
